The Great escape while a true story is about escaping the perils which surround you. Because of this i took my treatment from the P.OW. camp, to a downtown bank being robbed. Though condensing most of the characters there is still a few characters kept the same. Roger Bartlett (Big X) is the criminal mastermind who plans the ultimate bank heist. He along with 9 others proceed to rob the national savings bank located in a skyscraper. Everything goes according to plan, until the getaway driver hangs them out to dry. Now stuck inside the bank with 20 or so hostages, Bartlett must plan one of the most daring escapes. Surrounded by police and F.B.I. agents, Bartlett must use his intellect to make sure he, and his fellow comrades survive. Police chief Eric Luger takes on the role of the "Kommandant" from the book, attempting to make sure everyone survives the ordeal, and the robbers do not escape. At first Bartlett tries to make an escape using a zip line going from roof top, to roof top. But before they are able to test their zip-line, snipers open fire on them. Having to abandon the plan, causes 1 of the robbers to lose hope, and exit out the front doors. After not stopping and holding his hands up, the robber is shot dead. This causes all parties to fell loss. Luger then try's to parlay with Bartlett, but fails to no avail. Bartlett then discovers sewer plans for the building. Planning to use the tunnels to escape, Bartlett leads everyone down to the tunnel access. The sewers split off in many different directions, they all split up. All of the criminals make it to the surface. At this point in time the F.B.I. have taken over control of the situation. With the criminals now spread around the city, the bureau must hunt them down.One by one  7 of them are captured, only Bartlett and one other criminal remains. With the bureau hot on their tails, Bartlett lets himself get captured to save his friend. At the end all of the criminals are in 1 truck going to the bureau h.q. The truck stops to let the criminals take a leak, but after they step out of the truck, they are executed. The 1 lone criminal escapes to live a long and healthy life.
