Matt and Silent Bob strike back

My first semester as a video grasshopper. The semester of which you call the 1st, was a fun unprecedented series of fortunate events. Learning came to me by the way of the...MORRIS. The things my master taught me, have helped on on the path of the dragon. I have learned how to tame the wild beast, of which you call, DSLR! Then in the most universal ways of teaching, my master taught me how to manage the eternal battle, of TIME MANAGEMENT! Master Morris taught to me the ways of the film dragon. Though i am still not up to the task of bringing on the full dragon. Much learning must be needed, before my big journey begins. I must learn better skills of the art of editing. But in time, the way will open, and the blocked creative chakra will flow from my film animal spirit, a THOUSAND FOLD! My journey may be long and the road ahead hard, but  I thank master Morris, and her blossoming ways of teaching.

why we like to scream like little girls

For years people have been going to horror films to scare them selves silly. But why do we get such a rush from seeing these scary movies. The reality behind this all is the adrenaline we get when we get scared, it makes us get on the edge of our seat, racing with energy. This surge of energy makes our emotion soar high. And what do we know about emotion children? "to never have them Mr. C" "NO! Suzy back in the corner".  What we know about emotion is that is the driving force behind what we feel, and how we interpret. So making emotions rise high means you will arouse more response from your audience. Making them fear for your characters, and hopefully for themselves. This is the same as riding a roller coaster, you know you are safe, but the slight chance it might be fatal gives a person such a rush. This rush is what adrenaline junkies feed on. These junkies love for the edge on the seat thrill, so if a movie can satisfy, they will go back that style again, and again, and again.

fashionably fabulous

Costuming is an integral part of film, with out appropriate clothing the continuity of the film would be thrown in the trash. In 2001 a space odyssey the costuming had to be so thought out, because of the 30 some years jump in time, the costumes had to look futuristic but still simple. This comes through for the space suits, while the could have acquired actually astronaut clothing, they decided to make their own sleeker version. This makes the film more then just real, it makes it seem even more like the future. Another example of great costuming would be the english production of frankenstien. The frankenstien monster has massive scars and stitches all over his body, which show the way he was assembled.  The makeup and costuming work took hours to do, but the lasting effect of seeing such a masterpiece leaves you with the impression, that the actor is actually the monster.

Im, sorry dave. Im afraid i cant put a subject on this post.

After watching the movie 2001 a space odyssey, i have come to this conclusion, i was drugged for the last 15 minutes. Besides that fact, the film was astonishingly amazing, and visual stunning for a film made in 1968.  The film begins with the dawn of man, as man monkeys around for a time, he comes across a giant stone or monolith as they call it. Once man touches this alien space rock, he gains intelligence. Fast forward millions of years and another monolith is found on the moon. When man touches this monolith a signal is sent to jupiter. This prompts man to send a space crew to jupiter. The crew of 5 along with a super computer the hal-9000, is on their way to jupiter when the computer malfunctions. Hal goes and kills off all of the crew except one. This crew man, dave disconnects hal, and then continues on his voyage alone. While entering Jupiter's orbit, dave is transported through space. What infuses is almost a drug infused space journey. At the end of this journey, dave ends up in a hotel "ish" room. Though this room is an alien zoo, dave then spends the rest of his life in the hotel. When he dies he is reborn as a star child, looking at the earth with wide open eyes, signifying that this new universe age of man has begun.

The Great escape while a true story is about escaping the perils which surround you. Because of this i took my treatment from the P.OW. camp, to a downtown bank being robbed. Though condensing most of the characters there is still a few characters kept the same. Roger Bartlett (Big X) is the criminal mastermind who plans the ultimate bank heist. He along with 9 others proceed to rob the national savings bank located in a skyscraper. Everything goes according to plan, until the getaway driver hangs them out to dry. Now stuck inside the bank with 20 or so hostages, Bartlett must plan one of the most daring escapes. Surrounded by police and F.B.I. agents, Bartlett must use his intellect to make sure he, and his fellow comrades survive. Police chief Eric Luger takes on the role of the "Kommandant" from the book, attempting to make sure everyone survives the ordeal, and the robbers do not escape. At first Bartlett tries to make an escape using a zip line going from roof top, to roof top. But before they are able to test their zip-line, snipers open fire on them. Having to abandon the plan, causes 1 of the robbers to lose hope, and exit out the front doors. After not stopping and holding his hands up, the robber is shot dead. This causes all parties to fell loss. Luger then try's to parlay with Bartlett, but fails to no avail. Bartlett then discovers sewer plans for the building. Planning to use the tunnels to escape, Bartlett leads everyone down to the tunnel access. The sewers split off in many different directions, they all split up. All of the criminals make it to the surface. At this point in time the F.B.I. have taken over control of the situation. With the criminals now spread around the city, the bureau must hunt them down. One by one  7 of them are captured, only Bartlett and one other criminal remains. With the bureau hot on their tails, Bartlett lets himself get captured to save his friend. At the end all of the criminals are in 1 truck going to the bureau h.q. The truck stops to let the criminals take a leak, but after they step out of the truck, they are executed. The 1 lone criminal escapes to live a long and healthy life.

Don't fall in love, it can scare.

Stephen Kings new shining sequel hits shelves to day. In a recent interview King said that he had matured as an author, and he didn't scare by tricks, but by making you fall in love with the characters. Hold on i know what you're thinking love can make you scared, but think about it, if you care deeply for a character then you will fear for them in dangerous situations. This pushes horror from just the grimy gritty scare to a fear roller coaster.

These are not the films you are looking for.

What Books have been made into top tier films, Lord of the rings comes to mind, as does Schindler's list, and my personal favorite Apocalypse now. But not all movies have had such success i.e. Earagon. But films are a different view into a novel, its the directors and screenwriters, instead of yours. But film is also a different art form, then words on a page. And both art forms have surpassed the standards we set for them time and time again. But a book to movie adaptation has to be true to the book, and true to the fans to succeed.
