fashionably fabulous

Costuming is an integral part of film, with out appropriate clothing the continuity of the film would be thrown in the trash. In 2001 a space odyssey the costuming had to be so thought out, because of the 30 some years jump in time, the costumes had to look futuristic but still simple. This comes through for the space suits, while the could have acquired actually astronaut clothing, they decided to make their own sleeker version. This makes the film more then just real, it makes it seem even more like the future. Another example of great costuming would be the english production of frankenstien. The frankenstien monster has massive scars and stitches all over his body, which show the way he was assembled.  The makeup and costuming work took hours to do, but the lasting effect of seeing such a masterpiece leaves you with the impression, that the actor is actually the monster.
